Wednesday Wisdom

Seed tomorrow with wise choices today!

For some of us (maybe more than some) it’s so hard to let go of a pain, anxiety, hurt or worry. Yet, dwelling on the problem seldom solves it, and certainly gets in the way of making the mind available for creative solutions. I find it helpful to ponder on Ralph Waldo Emerson’s words:

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.

If something is heavy on your mind today, I wish you a good sleep tonight. May you simmer on the issue for just a few moments. Then, before falling asleep, ask your subconscious mind for a solution, or least what you can learn from your current situation. May you let it go and refresh yourself for a brand new tomorrow . . . and perhaps insight from your Higher Self in the morning!

Life is calling . . . Today’s the day!

Wednesday Wisdom

Seed tomorrow with wise choices today!

The snow is finally gone here in Michigan (however, we did have sleeting rain a few days ago). As I look out my window I see a small number of brave early bloomers taking their first peek through the soil to see if it’s safe enough to stretch further into the spring air. Soon yards will be painted with a plethora of color. Now is seeding time for anyone who desires a harvest at the end of the season. If we don’t plant with intention the only yield we’ll enjoy are the “volunteers” from birds who graciously dropped them in our garden.

When autumn comes don’t apologize for the abundance of your harvest or complain about its lack. Know that you reap what you sow. – Jim Rohn

Don’t wait for something wonderful to happen. Don’t depend on the happenstance of what may randomly be donated in your field. Plant, fertilize, weed and cultivate that which you desire. What one thing can you do today to move you closer to your aspiration? Harvest time will come faster than you think!

Life is calling . . . Today’s the day!

Have you visited TheSuccessStudio.com yet? When you do, I’d really like your input. Continuous improvement is supported by feedback about what’s working as well as what needs to change. So, your ideas about both are sincerely appreciated.

Speaking of change, The Success Studio’s featured contributor, Chris Clarke-Epstein helps teams and organizations around the world with their change initiatives. One of the articles Chris shares in this issue includes seven leadership behaviors that impede the progress of the very changes they initiate. One of those behaviors is under communication. It not only increases tension and adds to angst, under communication can be outright dangerous. Chris writes:

When faced with no information, people will make up their own information. The information that people make up is almost always negative.

We don’t like having an information void, so we fill in the blank ourselves. And, as well as being negative, have you noticed that what we make up is almost always inaccurate as well?! So, today, let’s be more mindful of communicating information people need to make better choices and constructive change.

I know it’s not Wednesday; however, we’re darned excited to announce the launch of our new website, The Success Studio!

Our intent is to be a resource for individuals & organizations who are interested in exploring the layers and depth of the principles, practices and processes of mastering performance in areas of life that matter most. Think of it as a studio where ideas can simmer and we can help each other provoke thought and stimulate action to artfully craft the lives we desire.

Have you ever worked tirelessly over a labor of love, not knowing where it would go or if it even mattered? Well, that’s exactly what this site has become for us. Our desire is to gather information from and share with fellow travelers who lust after life’s adventures . . . especially the internal ones that matter most.

So, for months we’ve gathered information, learned more about technology than any of us have ever wanted to know, struggled to understand things that seemed incomprehensible and giggled every time we got a glimmer of knowing that we actually knew something.

We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to interview people who have made uncommon choices and more importantly, took even less common action – and then share what they have to say with you! It’s like sitting at a banquet of excellence, drinking in ideas, greedily consuming essential nutrients of growth for the mind and the soul, then sitting back stuffed with stimulating possibilities!

During each interview I feel like a thief, living William Shakespeare’s words in Love’s Labour Lost, 5.1:

They have been at a great feast of languages, and stolen the scraps.

May these scraps offer you a “gold nugget” here or there, embedded in the expression of the ideas provided. Feast on them, digest their meaning in your life and apply them in a way that helps you in your pursuit of your personal best!

Seed tomorrow with wise choices today!

As a facilitator, one of the first lessons I learned was the power of well-crafted questions. And, like with any new skill, I struggled to ask ones that didn’t seem trite, inappropriate, ineffective, or ones that led to nowhere. It took a while; however, I finally realized how important listening was to the process. Duh.

Have you ever listened so intently that you could even hear what wasn’t being said? The silence and attentiveness between the words can organically lead to the next natural, effective question. How I wish I would have realized this when I was younger, as a mother, wife, friend, sister, daughter and business owner. I think Albert Einstein said it best:

All of life’s answers are available, if we just knew what questions to ask.

Today, I will ask more questions, listen louder and not be so quick to jump to immediate assumptions, conclusions or think I know the “correct” answer.
