Seed tomorrow with wise opening today!

At a recent Global Speakers Summit in Noordwijk, Holland, professional speaker, management trainer, consultant, facilitator, and professional humorist Lou Heckler, CSP, CPAE spoke these words:

We’ll get closer to truth if we open up our arms.

Lately, how wide is the stretch of your arms and the opening of your heart?

Life is calling . . . Today’s the day!

Seed tomorrow with a wise prayer today!

Working in Atlanta Georgia and happy to be avoiding the snow I‘d be experiencing up North! It makes me even happier to look forward to celebrating the sacred day of Easter with my family this weekend.

Our daughters will both be home and my brothers will travel in from Boston. Good Friday, we’ll all make our Easter cheese together, dye eggs and fill our traditional baskets with foods made from centuries-old Russian recipes to be blessed at church Sunday.

This is a ritual week of fasting and contemplative prayer as I prepare for the personal rebirth of spring. A week of deep thoughts devoted to what I need to change to become my best self and live my best life. So, as I bumped into this message, I figured it wasn’t by accident:

Prayer is not asking for what you think you want, but asking to be changed in ways you can’t imagine.

Spring . . . a magical time of transformations. What might you change that would bring you closer to who you want to become?

Life is calling . . . Today’s the day!

Wednesday Wisdom

Seed tomorrow with a wise library visit today!

I am a voracious reader and have no idea how one lives in the world without books. They’ve saved me in moments of despair, taken me to places inspired by genius writers and my own imagination, challenged my thinking and expanded my ability to discern. I can’t even imagine a world without free access to books, computers and direction on how to access information we need.

So, I was really excited to work with the Michigan Library Association this week. I was reminded of how many lives have been changed by the existence of libraries. How many single mothers may not have graduated without the support, encouragement and resources of their local library and librarians? How many teens might have acted on information that was not accurate or in their best interest? How many people might not have facilitated their own healing without the assistance of current information librarians can provide?

If you haven’t ventured into a library lately (perhaps online) today could be the day. Then, you might understand my concern about libraries at risk across the country.

You might be surprised to know what you can access online from your local library. And, equally delighted to get assistance from a librarian who can quickly hone in on what you need and sift through volumes of information to lead you in the right direction.

A library is not a luxury but one of the necessities of life. – Henry Ward Beecher

A library is the delivery room for the birth of ideas, a place where history comes to life. – Norman Cousins

Looking for something? Perhaps your local library can help!

Life is calling . . . Today’s the day!

Seed tomorrow with wise living today!

I wish I knew who wrote this so I could give credit for the wisdom:

The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate! – Anonymous

Isn’t it easy to rush through life, moving from one project to another? Chores and routines can effortlessly take over our time; challenges and struggles pile onto each other; days run together and life can quickly blend into a blur. Soon, days, weeks, months, then seasons pass, lacking vivid memory of life truly lived.

Is it time to stop? Breathe? Be present to this given moment? Reflect, appreciate and celebrate glorious experiences, blessings and triumphs?

Today’s a good day to begin the practice of the fine art of celebration. Let’s start by taking note of life as we live it. What pleases you most? What are you most proud of? Most grateful for? What have you wanted to do that will be worth celebrating once you take action?

To start the process, I’ll hit the “publish” button, then sit in silence. With deliberate focus on what I’m grateful for, I’m certain I’ll find a lot to celebrate!

Life is calling . . . Today’s the day!
