Seed tomorrow with wise discomfort today!
My husband, Curt, turned 61 yesterday. My goodness, the years fly. We met when we were 13 years old. And, as I reflect back upon the decades that followed I continue to be astonished at the changes we’ve made, the people we’ve become and the tribe we’ve created together. By simply observing him I’ve learned the behaviors of compassion, patience, calm and resourcefulness in the middle of chaos and crisis, unconditional love . . . and the list goes on.
A menagerie of memories surface as I attempt to identify the root causes of our personal and partnered evolution. And, in some ways they can be summed up in this statement that profoundly moved both of us the first time we read it:
What is most important, in any moment, is to sacrifice who we are for who we could become.
When is it important to be comfortable being uncomfortable? To get from where we are to where we want to be requires awkward, difficult, frightening and even painful phases. Intention change is not for the frail. However, for each of our lives, happily ever after never comes without turning the page.
Happy Birthday, Curt. May you continue to gladly and courageously embrace the uncomfortable feelings required to move to your and our next chapters!
Life is calling . . . Today’s the day . . . Make this moment matter!!
Learn Lavishly. Live Significantly. Leave a Legacy.
