Seed tomorrow with wise conversations today!

Curt and I are in total bliss this week as we spend it with our splendid grandson. It was just a couple weeks ago that I had the pleasure of sitting next to the brilliant musical artist, Billy Ocean on a long flight home from Mexico. For the entire 5 hours we spoke non-stop of spiritual and philosophical concepts – fabulous. One of my favorite was embedded in our conversation about preparing to be elders and the magic of being grandparents:

We have learned so much from our children that we have much more to give our grandchildren.

Isn’t THAT the truth! Thank you little ones, who, throughout your entire lives, mirror our world for us, teach us some of our most valuable lessons and consistently awaken our humanity.

Wednesday Wisdom

Seed tomorrow with wise wealth today!

Curt and I are working in Grand Cayman this week. What a remarkable island of beauty – and what stunning ocean views. In the middle of feeling exceptionally grateful, I remember Henry David Thoreau words:

Wealth is the ability to fully experience life.

It’s so easy to breathe in the experience of here! Yet, life isn’t always filled with such loveliness. Have you ever noticed yourself taking “little” things for granted or not noticing them at all? Do you currently have access to clean drinking water? To electricity? The Internet? To food? Last night, did you have an option other than sleeping outside on the ground? Are you able to read? Are you loved and loving?

Some may say you are incredibly wealthy. Others may benefit from a shift in perspective. Increasing awareness and gratefulness of what is gives us the opportunity to more fully experience the life right in front of us.

Life is calling . . . Today’s the day . . . Make this moment matter!!

Wednesday Wisdom

Seed tomorrow with wise work today!

I worked in Hermosillo, Mexico last week, with the temperature averaging 108 degrees. Wednesday afternoon a team traveled to a supplier’s extrusion plant nearby, which was substantially hotter inside the plant than the outside, accompanied by all the fumes of the rubber extrusion process. As they entered the room on their return they literally looked like they were on fire. Yet, people work in those conditions day after day. Those who work that hard and who do whatever it takes to feed their families, provide a better life for their children and diligently persist in such challenging circumstances always amaze me.

Blessing upon those, all over the world, who have limited opportunities, yet continue to make the best of what they have. And, I don’t even know what to say to those who do little and complain a lot with opportunities staring them in the face.

Seed tomorrow with wise thinking today!

As a child, I remember the pizzazz and sensuality of Sophia Loren. Her beauty seemed ageless and her passion consistently apparent. So, I wasn’t surprised to read her words on a flight to Hermosillo, Mexico:

There is a fountain of youth: it is your mind, your talents, the creativity you bring to your life and the lives of people you love. When you learn to tap this source, you will truly have defeated age.

Once again, a reminder that everything begins from within. It may take an entire lifetime to understand the magic of the mind; however, the journey to use it wisely has the potential to increase joy each and every day.
