Seed tomorrow with wise creation today

For continuity’s sake, things in 2015 will start off pretty much exactly where they left off in 2014. So, if we want to change something in our life, we have to CHANGE something in our life.

Reviewing years past, I ran across this Joseph Campbell message that lived on my mirror for over a year. And, it’s calling me again:

Life is not about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.

My hymn for 2015.

Creation requires change. Specific change with specific intent is more apt to lead to specific results. May 2015 be abundant with all you desire . . . blessings in making it happen!

Seed tomorrow with wise state of mind today

I know very little about Calvin Coolidge as a man or as a president; however, I like this thought he supposedly shared:

Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.

I recently read on a sign: They err who think Santa Claus comes down through the chimney; he really enters through the heart.

The Christmas day will come and go. May it be sacred. The season, abundant with activities, will whisk by quickly. May it be filled with an abundance of family, food, and festivities. And, may our generosity, compassion, peace, goodwill and mercy linger well into 2015.

Seed tomorrow with wise exploration of yourself today

Waiting for my luggage at carousel 4 in Chennai, India I had nothing better to do than to simply take in what was happening around me. People watching, reading airport paraphernalia, and overhearing conversations make me smile. After listening to a lovely exchange between a few traveling companions I looked to my left and stared at a huge billboard that read:

Your sacred space is where you can find yourself again and again. ~ Joseph Campbell

I consistently travel with Master Campbell’s writings because I find them anchoring, an inspiration to go within, and a comfort when exploring the edges of myself. If you’re looking to venture within, I sincerely suggest you pick up his work.

PS: The sign on the other side of the carousel read: Big egos are big shields for lots of empty space. Another reason to explore our inner world.

Seed tomorrow with wise venturing today

On a flight to Amsterdam, heading for Mumbai, India, I sat next to a lovely man who was on his way to Leon, France. He also does a considerable amount of travel for work, so we had a memorable conversation about the benefits and challenges of the multiple phases of life. One of his comments resonated deeply with me:

When we venture into the world, we embrace the opportunities it offers to more deeply venture within.

I get this . . . I so get this! I’m grateful for the often difficult solitude, the consistent challenging learning, and the in-your-face understanding of the world more profoundly. And, without a doubt, I appreciate the requirement to continually meet myself, rare and naked – a difficult and magnificent gift.

I also understand that we don’t need to travel far from our homes to take the internal journey. However, I thank this beautiful, gracious planet for making the adventure so rich with colorful texture, sometimes and confusing complexity, yet always profound wisdom.

Seed tomorrow with wise gratitude today

Unpacking from NYC, repacking for India, and savoring the residue of emotions for Thanksgiving with our children and grandsons last week. We loved all the gratitude messages, posts and wishes from friends around the world. One I want to remember and treasure daily:

Thank you for the food in front of us, the friends and family beside us and the love between us.

I’ll cherish the thought to maintain the gratitude long after the singular day of Thanksgiving.
