Wednesday Wisdom

Seed tomorrow with wise honoring of yourself today

In my fantasy, I would watch The Voice every week. Last night was one of those rare moments when I was able to watch from the beginning to the end. And, I learned.

In rehearsal, Adam Levine consults with Deana Johnson:

Nothing gets you more off track than your head.

Damn, isn’t that true? Hey, reason is wonderful; living in our heads is disastrous. Being present within the moment takes skill, which typically requires wisdom – not easy stuff. A few moments later, Adam adds:

Lose yourself in the music.

When was the last time you “lost yourself” in a moment? When you simply enjoyed the adventure you were called to in that very single moment?

It continues. Just before announcing Deana as his selection of the round, Adam says:

You’re running out of reasons not to believe in yourself.

Oh my, can you relate? And, Pharrell solidifies the night by offering:

When you doubt, you hit notes you didn’t intent to.

Hitting unintended notes lately? Yep, my fantasy is to watch this every time it airs!

Life is calling . . . Today’s the day . . . Make this moment matter!!

Wednesday Wisdom

Seed tomorrow with wise mental discipline today

A similar message traveled my way twice in the same day, so I’m thinking I should listen! The first was contained in an interview with Jack Kornfield, American author, teacher and trained Buddhist monk:

My mind is not a good neighborhood. I try to not go there by myself.

Continuous mental babble that often consumes our minds needs discipline. Protecting the precious vicinity means monitoring what we read, more consciously thinking about the conversations we enter, observing who and what we involve ourselves with all day long. Which people and thoughts do we want to linger longer?’

It’s not what you say out of your mouth that determines your life, it’s what you whisper to yourself that has the most power! ~ Robert T. Kiyosaki

Too often, we spend significantly more feeding our tummies than our minds. Increased awareness and redirected investment can start today!

Wednesday Wisdom

Seed tomorrow with wise balance and true joy today

I’ve come to understand that balance is a key component to welcoming and embracing true joy. This morning, as Grampa and I gave our first born grandson, Reid, an addition to his Thomas Train & Friends collection, he screamed with instant, utter joy:

Ferdinand! I have Ferdinand!!

Children have the most glorious way of truly appreciating every moment, and delighting in what’s right in front of them, rather than lusting after what they don’t have, or what is coming next. Today, may we remain grateful for what’s right in front of us and relish the joy of any and every moment we are graced to be with those we love.

Have a beautiful, wonderful Wednesday! I’ll now click “send” and return to a day of complete bliss!
