Seed tomorrow with wise stories today
Not able to attend last year’s National Speakers Association convention makes me beyond appreciative of what I am experiencing this week. For an entire year, I missed the energy of reconnecting with ideas and strategies; however, most importantly, I missed the connection between humans and experience that reignites and reinvigorates my soul.
There’s no way to express the soulfulness of the spirit contained in this space. A man who has risen from poverty and imprisonment, now giving back to the world in incomprehensible ways, a woman who experienced the horrific genocide in Rwanda and gracefully speaks of forgiveness, a Japanese American (and a Star Trek star) who shares his inexcusable experience of being imprisoned within the US during WWII . . . and, that’s just the first 24 hours!
In five minutes, (yep, 5 minutes) Jessica Pettitt significantly shifted my thinking about bias.
My judgement of you starts to create my story about you. And, it’s only a slice. Leave room, leave white space for edits . . . engage with people for their story to become more accurate.
Oh my! Jessica inspired me to listen and experience each presenter’s story and every participant’s conversations with openings for expanded and edited versions. May I continue to leave breathing space in other’s narratives to ask questions, listen, learn, and begin to understand and embrace the essence of their journey.
Life is calling . . . Today’s the day . . . Make this moment matter!!
Learn Lavishly. Live Significantly. Leave a Legacy.
