Seed tomorrow with wise action today

I have a love-hate relationship with this Jim Rohn statement:

If you really want to do something, you will find a way. If you don’t, you will find an excuse.

Sometimes it’s so hard to honestly look in the mirror! Couple those words with ones from Zig Ziglar and once again, it’s all about action:

The difference between who you are and who you want to be is what you do.

Darn, the end of rationalization and justification!

Wednesday Wisdom

Seed tomorrow with wise discomfort today

Like many, perhaps most, I like to feel comfortable. I like the familiar, the calm, the cozy and feel most content and secure with what I know (or, at least, what I think I know). However, when I ran across this statement I knew it to be true:

All deliberate change first comes from denying the logic that most gives you comfort.

Letting go, allowing productive mind adaptations and incorporating new notions may not be easy or comfy; however, moving through the discomfort is required until there IS change. And, then we must be thoughtful not to relax into the illusion of thinking we actually know.

Seed tomorrow with wise path making today

Last week, while working in Australia, I was reminded of a couple of my favorite Aboriginal sayings:

We are all visitors to this time, this place. We are just passing through. Our purpose here is to observe, to learn, to grow, to love… and then we return home.

This frame around life and an everyday reminder of the opportunities it offers can lift our spirits and keep us inspired to stay on purpose in the middle of busyness.

Traveler, there are no paths. Paths are made by walking.

Thoughts are powerful; action is required.

Wednesday Wisdom

Seed tomorrow with wise impossibilities today

WW arrives early this week since I’m working in Melbourne, Australia, 14 hours ahead of my home base of Michigan. Leaving for home in a few minutes, it will be late if I wait until I land. Ah, the joy of time zones!

Over the Pacific, on my way here, I had plenty of time to read and reflect. Wonderfully, I stumbled upon words from St. Francis of Assisi:

Start by doing what’s necessary; then do what’s possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.

Do what needs to be done first. Then, move onto working miracles, one small possibility at a time . . . I like that process!
