Seed tomorrow with wise living today
We bury dad this morning. Memories laced with stories keep those who have passed alive in our hearts. As I breathed in every picture of him and the family placed around the funeral home last night, my core was continually drawn the one of him, as our tribe’s elder, snuffing out the candles we light on the Christmas tree every year. Lit from the youngest to oldest, while singing of Silent Night, each little ignited glow is a sacred gesture.
In the middle of that memory it struck me that each individual Flame will be inevitably be extinguished, and the silence of our physical absence could be deafening or inaudibly fleeting. The space of the hush may depend on the observed purpose and meaning of our days and how we chose to act on them, how people felt in our presence because of those intentions, the generosity of our Spirit and the kindness of our encounters.
Benjamin Franklin wrote this about his observations:
Some people die at 25 and aren’t buried until they’re 75.
Person after person last night noted the fullness of dad’s 96 years. As long as we’re still breathing, it seems a good idea to actually live. I am grateful to come from the tribe I call family and equally as blessed for those who surround me as friends. And, I thank them for helping me make the days matter. Nostrovia to a great life!
Life is calling . . . Today’s the day . . . Make this moment matter!!
Learn Lavishly. Live Significantly. Leave a Legacy.
