Seed tomorrow with wise, impeccable words today

We’re working in Hermosillo, Mexico this week.  Good food, great culture and glorious people!  Since we were heading for the land of ancient Toltec wisdom, I grabbed my tattered copy of don Miguel Ruiz’s The Four Agreements to read yet one more time.  So worth another review!  Born into a family of healers, here’s a sample of what he learned:

One fear or doubt planted in our mind can create an endless drama of events . . . make an agreement with yourself to be impeccable with your word . . . clean all the emotional poison that exists within . . . then, you can be in the middle of hell and still experience inner peace and happiness . . . you can stay in your state of bliss and hell with not affect you at all.

Hum, reminds me to revisit my personal code of conduct, and “check in” on my words and behaviors more often.

 Life is calling . . .  Today’s the day . . . Make this moment matter!!

Seed tomorrow with wise mental discipline today

This week, we’re working with a team of exceptional front desk agents at a property in St Louis, discussing strategies for working with difficult Guests.  How do we avoid getting emotionally “hooked” by a challenging person? How can we remain calm, reduce tension and diffuse anger? How can we avoid “carrying” the negativity on our back for hours? One team member repeats this Ghandi statement to himself in such situations, and shared it with the team:

I would not let anyone walk through my mind with their dirty feet.

And, of course, there are several similar comments we could reiterate to keep our sanity, maintain inner peace and be effective in the moment . . . what do you say to yourself?

Seed tomorrow with wise energy today

We just put our wonderful daughter and our magnificent grandsons on a plane back to NYC.  Wow, it was fabulous having them with us for a week . . . and, how the time flew by!

Although I’m aware that not everything we read is true, I’m hoping this, supposedly by Albert Einstein, that I stumbled upon in a magazine in the Skyclub is:

Everything is energy and that’s all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want and you cannot help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philosophy, this is physics.

Reminds me to “check in” with myself more often each and every day!

Seed tomorrow with wise commitments today

We’re working in San Diego this week. As we walked through the hallway to the employee cafeteria (our favorite place to eat in a hotel), we both smiled as we read the sign:

When you feel like quitting, think about why you started.

It’s interesting that most of us would never break a commitment we made to another; however, when’s the last time you broke a commitment to yourself?  We’re excited when we start the project, the diet, the lifestyle change . . . then, the motivation declines.  Focusing on WHY rather than WHAT could help in those quitting moments.
