Seed tomorrow with wise experiences today

 I walked past this sign in a window and immediately felt the essence of its truth:

Experience is the hardest kind of teacher.  It gives you the test first and the lesson afterward. 

 Although challenges, struggles, blunders, triumph and victory contribute to our growth and eventual wisdom, may we not forget that learning from others’ experiences can often shift the perspective of what we’re facing, expand our view of alternatives within opportunities, diminish confusion & pain because of decisions, and accelerate our learning.  Mentors offer insight we seldom request. Wish I had known this earlier in life.

Wednesday Wisdom

Seed tomorrow with wise reflection today

 Each and every year, this month becomes more priceless for me. Both of our daughters were born in September and the month bring increasing reflections of pregnancy,births, childhood and their growth into two beautiful, responsible, competent and compassionate women who make my soul sing.  We now have two grandsons and another on the way.  As I look at our daughters, Frederick Douglass’s words echo in my soul:

It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.
Parenting is difficult, challenging, and sometimes outright overwhelming.  It’s also one of the most rewarding, expanding, incomparable experiences one can have.  I have no words for the joy of watching our children raise their children. Thank you, September. And, thank you Courtney and Amanda for allowing me to be one of the midwives of your journeys.
