Seed tomorrow with wise decisions today

Christmas festivities are winding down at our home. Siblings left yesterday, now children and grandchildren are heading home to NYC and Grand Rapids. Silence will soon fill the house. I already miss them; however, it’s now time to walk through my annual ritual of reflecting upon the past year and preparing for the next. As I do so, I focus on Ralph Waldo Emerson’s words:

The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.

Happy New Year to all!  May 2017 be wildly abundant with all you desire.

Seed tomorrow with wise contemplation today

 Winter Solstice – sacred to many. A symbolically significant day to reflect upon 2016 and envision a desired 2017. Gary Zukav puts it this way:

The winter solstice is special as a barren darkness that gives birth to a verdant future beyond imagination, a time of pain and withdrawal that produces something joyfully inconceivable, like a monarch butterfly masterfully extracting itself from the confines of its cocoon, bursting forth into unexpected glory.

Prioritizing time for contemplation today is worth the silence.

Seed tomorrow with wise words today

Curt and I are working in Washington DC this week. The flight gave me time to read.  “Have you been inappropriately or ineffectively biting your tongue lately?” Hum, interesting statement.  If it fits, you might want to read consider the suggestion:

Give it thought. Consider every angle. And then speak your mind. You’ve not been drawn into anyone’s life just to listen.

Listening is required to understand. And, sometimes, it’s important to be understood. In those cases, words need to be spoken.  Is it time to break the silence?
