Seed tomorrow with wise choices today

I’ve cherished lifelong learning for as long as I can remember.  As a child it felt like my “way out.”  As an adult it feels like my way beyond.  So, I appreciate Brian Herbert’s reminder:

The capacity to learn is a gift; the ability to learn is a skill; the willingness to learn is a choice. 

Always saddened when I cross paths with an individual who is perfectly capable, simply not willing.  And, it makes me treasure my choice even more.

 

Life is calling . . .  Today’s the day . . . Make this moment matter!!

Seed tomorrow with wise steadfastness today

I am drawn to the mastery of words Paulo Coelho, Brazilian lyricist and novelist, uses. Here’s one of many examples:

Profound commitment to a dream does not confine or constrain: it liberates. Even a difficult, winding path can lead to your goal if you follow it to the end.

It’s so easy to lose energy and focus during the challenging or even treacherous curves of the journey to the desired outcome; however, too often we give up just as the winding road unfolds to  achievement, with the end around the corner . . . or, another twist that leads to something even better.

Curt and I are back in New Orleans, working with several remarkable teams. Benjamin Franklin, who accomplished a lot in his relatively short life, came up in a conversation early in the week.  Tenesha, a young, vibrant young woman, said, in her mind, it was the way he thought that made the difference between him and mediocre:

Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning.

Words worth pondering at the beginning of a New Year!

Seed tomorrow with wise liberation today

 Re-reading Marilyn Ferguson takes me back several decades!  Reading her in my twenties challenged my thinking, provoked chaos in my head and caused change in my behavior.  Just picked up a book and read one of her many lines that significantly impacted the rest of my life:

Your past is not your potential. In any hour you can choose to liberate the future.

Here we are, in a New Year – and, 2017 awaits our activity!  Perhaps this is a good time to pick up life’s pen and write a new chapter. And, by the way – remember that, if you choose, you can add all kinds of adventure and give it an entirely new end!

Seed tomorrow with wise preparation today

Here we are – the first Wednesday of a New Year!  If you haven’t already done so, it’s a good time to sit in silence to reflect upon 2016 and mindfully bring in 2017. Why? Alan Lakein states one reason:

Planning is bringing the future into the present so that you can do something about it now.

What will you DO in 2017? Habitual behaviors will determine your reflections of 2017 if you’re blessed enough to mindfully bring in 2018.  As Aristotle’s saw it:

We are what we repeatedly do.

What routines are worthy of focus in 2017?

Happy, Happy New Year!  May 2017 be wildly abundant with all you desire!!
