Prayers continue to flow to all our clients in Puerto Rico, Mexico, Houston, India and to all around the world who are in the recover mode from disaster. May we, as global citizens, continue to send the necessities to survive as abundantly as the prayers.

Seed tomorrow with wise falling on your face today

These words caught my attention on a sign in Tampa:

Fall on your face. Fail. Fail spectacularly. Because, when you fall on your face you learn, you live.

Learning to downhill skill when we were in high school, I drew Curt’s attention to the fact that I fell far less than others. I wasn’t crazy about his response.  I fell less because I risked less, was far less daring on the slopes and was therefore progressing far less quickly than what was possible.

Working hard not to stumble? That’s an effective way to sub-optimize the life we live.

Seed tomorrow with wise gratitude today

This is the month both of our amazing daughters were born. So, every year, September offers memories, gratitude, and the reflection of Joseph Campbell’s thought:

Life is not about finding ourselves. Life is about creating ourselves.

The deepest secret is that life is not a process of discovery, but a process of creation. You are not discovering yourself, but creating yourself anew. Seek, therefore not to find out who you are, seek to determine who you want to be. 

Like parents around the world, I’ve watched our daughters work hard, make a plethora of decisions, and create a life for themselves and those they love. And, like other parents, I breathe a sigh of relief, pride and amazement as I observe them as self-reliant, responsible, compassionate, contributing citizens. Lord knows, life yearns for those qualities. Happy Birthday Courtney and Amanda. I’m a blessed mom and gramma, intensified every September.

 Hoping all had a relaxing Labor Day weekend.  And, a grand thank you for all the hard working Americans who make this country abundant.  As Sophocles stated centuries ago:

Without labor nothing prospers.

I remain befuddled by those who expect something for nothing. I’ve only know life to return in proportion to what we give. So, let’s give to life abundantly!
