Seed tomorrow with wise rising today

Last week, Curt and I worked in Phoenix. As we sipped wine on our balcony we gazed at the evening red and orange painted skies and Miguel de Cervantes words surfaced:

The phoenix hope, can wing her way through the desert skies, and still defying fortune’s  spite; revive from ashes and rise.

Change is a constant. Life includes catastrophes. And, although it’s hard to remember when we’re wallowing in ruins, we too can rise.

 

Life is calling . . .  Today’s the day . . . Make this moment matter!!

Seed tomorrow with wise living today

Tomorrow, our youngest grandson turns one!  Bright eyed, he makes his way in the world through wonder and awe. His smile lights up a room and his giggles are sunshine to our souls. I know this to be true for every child who has a chance to experience support, love and patience. I cringe as I I hear the noise that permeates in the news, so I pray for a world that finds a way to unite around issues that affect us all, that joins to ensure a healthy and vibrant planet for our next generations and finds the compassion to provide all children with at least the necessities in life and a solid foundation for create a life worth living.

I wouldn’t change my children for the world but I wish I could change the world for my children.

Happy Birthday, little guy. May your joy continue to be an anchor in your life and may you always have a solid support system no matter where your adventures take you. I know, for a fact, you’ll be sustenance for others.

Seed tomorrow with wise bridge building today

Years ago, a friend sent me this message:

Extend a hand whether or not you know it shall be grasped.     ~ Ryunosuke Satoro

Each of us experiences opportunities to build bridges toward others. As we reach out, it’s the others’ choice to accept or refuse the offer. As we extend our reach and are rejected, it’s hard to remain rational, not to judge the behaviors of the other, make assumptions about their response, or be offended by those who choose not to cross the gap. However, even in the midst of our own angst, we can still continue to build.

Seed tomorrow with wise acts of kindness today

A magical week with our entire family in Orlando. What fun watching our three wide-eyed grandsons as they soak in all the sights! Early morning Monday, with a sense of urgency to experience the boy’s first Disney World adventures there was quick coffee, packed lunches and two cars loaded with all the essentials.  We arrived at the massive Disney car park and Amanda holds out $20.00 to pay for parking and received this charming response from the lovely parking attendant:

Consider this a magical moment (followed by a delightful wink). Today – complimentary parking for you. Treat yourselves to some cappuccino this morning . . . and, enjoy your enchanted day!

Remember how good it feels when a complete stranger does something nice and unexpected? A marvelous start to magical moments that lasted throughout the day. And, a reminder that today offers another opportunity to extend acts of kindness to others who cross our path.
