Seed tomorrow with wise legacy building today
Last week people from around the world who use their voices to teach, inspire and challenge gathered at the National Speakers Association annual convention to share best practices, learn from each other, and grow our craft. It’s also a time to honor our legends and living legacies.
Thelma Wells, known as Mama T, was the first black woman to present on the main stage of NSA, not that long ago. Sunday night, she received the Spirit of Cavett Award as a result of her decades of opening doors that had been firmly locked for many, demolishing barriers and elevating multitudes. Her inspiration:
When I met Dr. Martin Luther King and Dr. Rosa Parks they both had something in common – they inspired and encouraged me.
Treasured friend and consummate professional, Lenora Billings-Harris received her CPAE (Council of Peers Award of Excellence). Her acceptance speech recognized, honored and thanked those who supported and inspired her. Her message, an African philosophy, Ubuntu:
I am because you are. I am because we are.
Lenora’s words were honoring and compelling, causing listeners to reflect and be grateful. Who and what inspire you?
Life is calling . . . Today’s the day . . . Make this moment matter!!
Learn Lavishly. Live Significantly. Leave a Legacy.
