Seed tomorrow with wise memories today

For 41 years, September has been an intentionally sanctified month of reflection for me. Both of our daughters were born in this month. Both hold sacred space in my soul as two of my most profound teachers, inspirations, muses, and now, examples of life well lived.

I thank them for continuing to be mirrors that echo images, memories and hopes as life continues to unfold and wish them another year wildly abundant with all they cherish.

Wednesday Women

Seed tomorrow with wise connection today

Sunday through yesterday I had the pleasure of spending time on Mackinac Island with 17 gloriously competent, supportive, encouraging, challenging, powerful business women to celebrate the retirement of Cheryl Ronk, Executive Direction of The Michigan Society of Association Executives. Congratulations, Cheryl!

Individual and collective conversations were rich, stabilizing, inspiring and since, most of us have past the spring phase of our lives, abundant with sharing the profound lessons we’ve learned that help in experiencing an intentionally created valuable, full, satisfying life. Just a few of my notes:

A successful woman is one who can build a firm foundation with the bricks others have thrown at her.

Moving through insecurity and self-doubt is a process that is assisted by a circle of support.

A powerful woman looks at a challenge dead in the eye and gives it a wink.

Behind every successful woman is a tribe of other successful women who have her back.

In even the most challenging situations we can choose to be kind. Model civility where it is lacking.

I pray that every person reading this post has a support system that provides a safe place to fall, a tribe that nurtures, encourages, provides truthful feedback and calls you to become the best version of yourself.  If not, please think about creating one!

Wednesday Wisdom

Seed tomorrow with wise flexibility today

Reality seems to be in a constant state of flux – some days more than others. Therefore, it’s not beneficial to be rigid or cling to an idea of what’s happening in a way that gets us stuck in our ways.

Flexibility is the capacity to bend without breaking, as well as a continual willingness to change or be changed in order to accommodate new circumstances.

Let’s hold our values and principles close and our interpretation of what’s in front us open enough to bend into understanding.

Wednesday Wisdom

Seed tomorrow with wise family time today

Just ended a few weeks with all three of our grandsons and a family trip to northern Michigan for a wedding. Now home alone, Curt and I sit with a glass of wine and the realization that we’re both exhilarated and exhausted.

My fantasy is that we will enjoy several more decades of adventures with these fabulous people we call family. I pray you embrace your tribe with the same respect, admiration and love. Savor your moments!
