Christmas is not only a season of rejoicing, but also of reflection.

Since we turn the chapter on a New Year in just a few days, contemplation is timely.

There’s power in questions. In the last 12 month, what pleases you most in yourself and in your life? With what are you least pleased? What have you learned in 2018 that is worthy of carrying forward?  What will you do to make 2019 a year to reflect upon with appreciation, gratitude and satisfaction in 12 short months?

What beneficial questions do you need to ask yourself today?

Seed tomorrow with wise understanding, compassion and love today

 To my Christian family and friends – Merry Christmas!

And, I respectfully understand there are approximately 29 Holy Days observed by 7 of the world’s major religions between November 1 and January 15, so Happy Holidays to all.

No matter our spiritual path, here’s just a sampling of what we’re called to do:

Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them humanity cannot survive.

Seed tomorrow with wise stories today

All of life is story. Your story, my story and those we share that often transcend the individual ones. In the midst of the Christmas season our grandson’s perceptions of Santa Claus is dependent on their age. Almost 6 year old Reid carries a different story than 2 year old Sam, and 4 year old Alex is somewhere in between. At my age, I’m charmed and delighted at the sight of the bearded Grampa figure in his splendid outfit. And, my curiosity is intrigued as I read this:

Santa is humankind’s collective ego clothed in a red suit.

Perhaps adults need the Santa story more than children. For, there’s a joy that’s available only to those who seek it not for themselves.

And, amongst all the frustration and angst in the media, traveling the world one experiences humans everywhere to be primarily compassionate, kind and helpful. I think that’s the collective consciousness I’ll focus on this season.

Seed tomorrow with wise tapestry today

Curt and I are on our on our 44^th wedding anniversary adventure in Dominican Republic.  Wow, the speed of time!  Relaxing, exploring, and experiencing the people, the culture and the food – some of our favorite things!

Chains do not hold a marriage together. It is threads, hundreds of tiny threads, which sew people together through the years.       ~ Simone Signoret

As I reflect upon the daily fibers we share, it gives our united bond clarity. Strands of strength through decades of shared experiences has helped to unfold learning beyond measure and witnessing each other’s moments has become the filtered texture through which we respect the journey of another.

To you, Curt:  May you love as long as you wish and love as long as you live. Thank you for decades of adventures, learning and of love.
