Seed tomorrow with wise love today

In a moment of intense frustration, I took a break, sat in silence, took deep breaths and picked up the nearest book. These words were offered:

Do not be dismayed by the brokenness in the world. All things break. And all things can be mended. Not with time, as they say, but with intention. So go. Love intentionally, extravagantly, unconditionally. The broken world waits in darkness for the light that is you.

When we come to terms with our flaws, failings, mistakes and mortality and remember how fast and fragile life is, seeking and becoming light in murky moments becomes more deliberately managed.

Seed tomorrow with wise prayer today

Our granddaughter, Anna Mylise, decided to arrive 6 ½ weeks early. It was a jolting few days of trepidation, anxiety and continuous prayer for mommy and baby. Many know the comfort and power of prayer in times of distress. Many seek its solace on a daily basis. Author, Alice Walker writes:

‘Thank you’ is the best prayer that anyone could say. Thank you expresses extreme gratitude, humility, and understanding.

I am beyond grateful for the comfort prayer brought during our challenging time and for the prayerful energy sent to us by many loving friends and family. If it isn’t part of your daily life, you may want to sit, close your eyes and surrender to its peace and calm.

Seed tomorrow with wise art today

We may have different definitions and taste in art; however, here’s Thomas Merton’s notion:  Art allows us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.

And, Albert Einstein:  Art is standing with one hand extended into the universe and one hand extended into the world, and letting ourselves be a conduit for passing energy.

Our life is a canvas upon which we brush our strokes of uniqueness, authenticity and spirit, defining and demonstrating our essence . . . may you craft masterworks out of as many moments as possible.

Seed tomorrow with wise action today

Tracy Brown, a colleague and exceptional professional recently wrote:

Words and wishes are good.  Decisions and deeds are better.

Thank you for the reminder, Tracy. Time to get to work.

Seed tomorrow with wise allowing today

I’m guessing you’ve heard some version of:  We’re our own greatest obstacle or, to become the best version of yourself requires you to get out of your own way.

On a flight, I watched Robin Williams, Come Inside My Mind, which provided insight and empathy about the demons in his life. This comment particularly caught my attention:

If you don’t interfere with yourself you’re quite interesting.  ~ Robin Williams

It’s easy to negate our individual, unique value and not see what others find interesting within us. Rather than invalidating ourselves, perhaps it’s time to stop the interference and embrace, acknowledge and appreciate by settling into our honest, vulnerable, authentic selves.
