Wednesday Wisdom

Seed tomorrow with wise living today

Today, my husband celebrates his 68th birthday. The past year has been challenging, chaotic, and crammed full of change. Moving from the East side of Michigan to the West to be closer to family included a purging process that was consuming and 8 months of gutting and renovating our new home required physical labor that reminded us of our age. We both decided to welcome a life of semi-retirement and were blessed with a sweet granddaughter to join our 3 high-energy, divine grandsons. The realities of the adjustments prompted us to look into the mirrors of our mortality and come to the understanding that the majority of our chapters are now behind us.

Your dreams do not have an expiration date. Take a breath and try again.

Times like these remind us that adventures still call, our bucket list continues to await our action, quiet moments yearn for our presence and every day we are beyond grateful that we still have each other, our remarkable family and our cherished friends. Happy, Happy Birthday, Curt. We’ve certainly experienced a blessed life . . . and, we’ll continue, with excitement, to experience the unfolding of our future!

Wednesday Wisdom

Seed tomorrow with wise examples today

Last Wednesday started with a good sob. Listening in on the Today Show, I caught a celebration for the Tony Award recipient, Ali Stroker, who made history as the first performer in a wheelchair to win for best featured actress in the musical Oklahoma!

She was then introduced to a young boy, Henry, who is also in a wheelchair, and a big fan of Ali and her work. Sunday night, glued to the TV, Henry watching her receive the Tony award, looked to his mom with intense emotion and said, “That’s me, that’s me!” Just as I thought I had the tears under control, I hear his mom’s words:

Limits are for credit cards not people. This chair represents freedom, not a burden.

And, the ugly cry began. Lord, people can be glorious.

Seed tomorrow with wise echoes today

I read this post and immediately sat to think about it at a deeper level:

Life is an echo. What you send out, comes back. What you sow, you reap. What you give, you get. What you see in others exists in you. Do not judge, so you will not be judged. Radiate and give love and love will come back to you.

It’s easy to understand each of these notions at a cognitive level.  Living each is another story!

Seed tomorrow with wise courage today

With each passing year, I become more aware of how repeatedly we allow the past to create our future. Lacking awareness, intention and direction, our history is packed with enormous power.

The great courageous act that we must all do, is to have the courage to step out of our history and past so we can love our dreams.   ~ Oprah Winfrey

Our ability to learn from, rise above and let go of past experiences and move beyond the mediocre is required to create a life of our choice. Today’s the day.
