Seed tomorrow with wise understanding, compassion and love today

To my Christian family & friends – Merry Christmas!

And, with a respectful understanding of the approximate 29 Holy Days observed by 7 of the world’s major religions between November 1 and January 15, I also extend Happy Holidays to all.

No matter our spiritual path, while we walk Earth, we are collectively on this journey. So, as Rabbi Lord Jonathon Sacks reminds us:

For though my faith is not yours and your faith is not mine, if we are each free to light our own flame, together, we can banish some of the darkness of the world.

May our spark be abundant into the next year, and, when given the opportunity, may we ignite or sustain the light of another, extending the peace, compassion and love the Christ child came to teach.

Seed tomorrow with wise contemplation and gratitude today

As we approach the end of one year and welcome the next, many reflect upon the past 12 months, with hopes of insight. While pondering the good times, joyful experiences, and charming encounters, let’s not forget the less than delightful moments that also created who we have become. Conversation about a passage from A Course in Miracles:

Something beautiful happens to people when their world has fallen apart: a humility, a nobility, a higher intelligence emerges at just the point when our knees hit the floor.

I’m not advocating the invocation of treacherous teaching. Years ago, I began to request lessons taught through joy because of exhaustion from continual learning grounded in pain. Still, life continues to offer humbling experiences. The habits of daily silence, contemplative prayer, and deep gratitude have served as a foundation for acumen, strength and grace to handle whatever life offers next.

May the passing of 2019 and birth of 2020 be abundant with contemplation and gratitude for all you cherish.
