Seed tomorrow with wise resolutions today!

Looking to live differently in 2022?  Do you have a habit of making New Year’s resolutions? Hopes, desires, a wish for the New Year? To date, how’s that worked for you?

Setting resolutions for a year you desire isn’t easy. Here are a few suggestions for creating a resolution that might actually make a difference:

1.  Don’t wait until midnight on New Year’s Eve to think of it!

2. Think about one or two areas of your life you want to improve.

3.  Avoid setting too many goals which means none will be accomplished.

4.  What genuinely motivates and inspires you to take action?

5. What actions can you take to move in the direction of your desired results?

6. What will be the benefits of the change(s) you make?

Planning is bringing the future into the present so that you can do something about it now.

                                                                                                                        ~ Alan Lakein

Reflect and plan now so that the stroke of midnight carries more weight than in years past.

Seed tomorrow with wise spirit today!

‘Tis the season to wish everyone joy, love and peace. A time to give thanks, to deeply appreciate all the blessings that surround us, and to extend ourselves to others. As a greeting card I received states:

The spirit of the season is a sweet, internal peace that affirms the power of kindness and charity. It is simply an honest spirit of love for all humanity, the force that moves us to give what we can, to help as we are able, and to always be of kind comfort.

I pray for joy in our hearts, hope in our collective consciousness, the compassion to reach out to others, understand that we all have pain and issues, and to forgive, and to have enough humanity and love to create peace on Earth.

Seed tomorrow with wise Light today!

These Holy Days are a perfect time to reflect upon and implement the words of Rabbi Lord Jonathon Sacks:

For though my faith is not yours and your faith is not mine, if we are each free to light our own flame, together we can banish some of the darkness in the world.

My Christian teachings instruct me to act with the purity and compassion of a Christ heart, to treat others as I appreciate being treated, that Thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.

I pray that each of us preserve our own unique flame, support the brilliance of others, and find ways to shine together.

Seed tomorrow with wise understanding today!

Last week, frustration and angst surfaced during a strategic planning session with a municipality. Before I selected to intervene in the In the midst of people talking over each other, the mayor spoke up:

We’re all so desperate to be understood, we forget to be understanding.

‘Tis the season that invites us to be with others, share blessings, and celebrate life itself. Perhaps it’s also a good time to practice listening to understand, with no preconceived assumptions, judgments, or investment of energy in creating our response once the speaker completes his/her thoughts.

Rather than listening to reply, we could practice listening with curiosity, respect, and integrity. What could happen if we listened with our heart, attempting to understand what’s behind the words, including hearing that which is not being said?

Seed tomorrow with wise compassion and understanding today!

Once again, we’re greeting people and wishing blessings upon each other during these spiritual special months.  And, once again, we’ll be reading and hearing people concerned about saying anything but, “Merry Christmas.”  So, once again, please allow me to state that my “Happy Holidays” is not out of political correctness or because I’m sparring against Christmas, it is, as a Christian, out of respect.

From November 1 to January 15 there are approximately 29 holy days observed by 7 of the world’s major religion. And, I don’t think mine are the only ones that count.

People are sincerely not trying to eliminate Christmas, nor are their intentions to force people into not saying “Merry Christmas” – something I say to those I know celebrate the sacred holy day. Rather, compassionate people respect the spiritual path of others and genuinely want to wish them blessings on their holy days as well.

So, this season let’s behave more like Christ. Let’s extend kindness, compassion, and honor others and their journeys. When someone says Happy Holidays please say thank you, because they do not know your beliefs. It’s honestly out of respect, not a war on Christmas.
