Seed tomorrow with wise love today!

During this solemn period in the Christian liturgical calendar called Lent, many contemplate the lessons of Christ’s 40 days of fasting in the desert and being tempted by Satan before beginning His public ministry.

As I “give up” a few things that do not serve Earth or contribute to an improved life, I’ll also contemplate thoughts that I can “add” to my daily being, applying principles taught by The Master Teacher:

You will never look into the eyes of someone God does not love.

Oh, the immense implications of that statement.

Seed tomorrow with wise meaning and giving today!

Pablo Picasso wrote:

The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.

With great wonder, I’ve always envied those who knew their gifts early in life. The rest of us are required to journey through the discovery process.  For some, that’s easier than for others. However, once embraced, we have the opportunity to live out the rest of our lives with more giving and gratitude and less confusion and annoyance.

Blessings upon discovering and living your gifts!

Seed tomorrow with wise energy use today!

Is it possible to understand all that Albert Einstein left us to ponder? Each time I read his work I’m more befuddled by his thoughts and their implications for humans. Although I have researched energy for quite some time, I’m still in wonder as I read his description:

Everything is energy and that’s all there is to it. Match the energy frequency of the energy you want and you cannot help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philosophy. This is physics.

Really? If true, I still have a lot of work to do . . . you?

So, to all who make fun of those who pray and/or meditate for peace on earth – Einstein’s work is at your local library.

Seed tomorrow with wise intentional Light today!

I suspect I’m not the only person who is horrified, outraged, and beyond disgusted by the devastation bestowed upon Ukraine. I continue to be gut wrenched 24 hours a day for my family in Eastern Ukraine in harm’s way, with feelings of complete helplessness in contributing to any resolve.

In between weeping and constant nightmares I try to remember Aristotle’s words:

It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light.

Right now, I struggle to see any light, let alone be the Light. However, there’s a reason Martin Luther King, Jr, in constant struggle, insisted:

Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.

How can we expect world peace when we feed the slightest darkness that resides within us?  When dark is greater than Light it can be seen amongst neighbors, between family members, within government agencies, in corporate greed, and in the ugly dark that has been surfacing across our own nation –  the result of collective unintentional darkness and lack of intentional Light.

Feeling defeated, impotent, and powerless I struggle to remember that we each need to do what we can, with the resources we have, where we stand. If nothing else, can we remember what Gandhi asked of himself, Be the change you want to see in the world.

No hate or darkness to be sent to anyone, even the perpetrators of agony . . . yes, beyond difficult, yet necessary. Today, and every day, may I do my best to radiate Light, peace, and love to all, especially to those committing the atrocities and inflicting the pain. May their hearts soften (I know, I know, this feels insane) to the human suffering and devastation.

May I be guided to do anything and everything I can to be Your vessel of compassion, Your channel of love, and Your instrument of peace.

Life is calling . . .  Today’s the day!

Seed tomorrow with wise travel today!

Robert Louis Stevenson wrote:

There is no foreign land; it is the traveler only who is foreign.

Indulging in my annual habit of celebrating my birthday in a land I’ve to yet explore, I reflect upon being asked why I insist on a life that includes abundant travel. The author, Terry Pratchett, captures my thoughts:

Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.

Travel calls me, stretches my perceptions, deepens my appreciation of diverse cultures and varied philosophies, and challenges my otherwise elementary school ideas of what is right, beautiful, meaningful, and spiritual.

The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.   ~ St. Augustine

And, then there’s the words of Mark Twain:

Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.

My birthday prayer is Thank you. Thank you for the creation of a magnificent, diverse, sacred planet, full of glorious people. And, thank you for the luxury of being able to experience so much of Earth’s magnificence.
